My old high school gym teacher Mr. Acker used the wear the coolest sweat jackets. This is my homage. One version has the hood and more striking rib knit details. The other is cleaner. (click to enlarge)
僕の高校で体育を担当していたアッカー先生はいつもカッコいいスウェットを着てました。このアイテムは彼へのオマージュです。１型はフードが付いていてリブニットのディテールが特徴なのと、もう１つはそれを少しクリーンにしたもの。（クリックで拡大）

What happens when you mix sport and suit? You get these 2 pieces. The track pants are cut as traditional athletic jogging pants, but done in a super thin wool suiting material. At first glance, you look ready for the red carpet. But feel comfy as Minnie Ripperton on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The shorts have the same concept but are cut in basketball shorts silhouette.
スポーツとスーツをミックスするとどうなるでしょう？答えはこの２点。トラックパンツのシルエットはいわゆるジョギングパンツと一緒なのですが、素材にはスーツ用の極薄ウールを使用しています。一見レッドカーペットでもいけちゃいそうですが、履き心地は日曜日の昼下がりのミニー・リパートンのように気持ちいいです。ショーツも同じコンセプトですが、バスケットボールショーツのシルエットで。

We rarely retro designs and run them again from a past season. But this one from 2004 is a classic. Another I wish I had made for math class. Order of Operations…Please excuse my dear aunt sally.

A. B-BOYS ROCK THE WORLD

I just saw Benson Lee’s Planet B-Boy documentary. It’s a really well done film that will be enjoyed both by hip-hop fans and non hip-hop fans. That’s always the hallmark of a great documentary. How do you make a doc that captures the interest of people who are not inherently interested in your subject matter? Benson did it. On a side note, Benson asked me about a year ago to design the logo and creative treatment for Planet B-Boy. I had to turn down the job because we were too busy. But I wish we could have done it…especially after seeing the great outcome.

Benson Lee氏のPlanet B-Boyのドキュメンタリーを見ました。ヒップホップファンもそうでない方にも楽しめるよう、よく出来ています。それが、最高のドキュメンタリーの特質ですよね。どうやってその題材に興味のない人々の興味をそそらせるか？Benson氏はやりました。それとは別に、一年前Benson氏は僕にPlanet B-Boyのロゴのデザインとクリエーティブ・トリートメントを依頼されたけど、忙しすぎてお断りをしなくてはならなかった。でも、やりたかったな。。。こんないい結果を見たらなおさら。

I guarantee it’s nothing like this…

私はシカゴで青春時代を過ごしました。

実はChicago Bears というアメフトチームがあるのですが、その頃はBearsがSuper Bowlを優勝したり、数年後にはBullsが無敵になり、、、

そう、ちょうどChicago Bulls に Michael JordanとScottie Pippen が最強コンビを組んでいた時です。

Championship Games は町中がBulls カラーになってました。

シーズン中、学校では生徒と先生関係無く試合の話で盛り上がり、「今日は誰々がゲームを見にいくらしいよ」、などと会話の中心はいつもBulls でした。校内では日々最低でも３０人はBulls グッズを身につけていた時代です。今考えるととても懐かしいですが、まさか２０年以上経つ今もこんなに大人気になるとは思ってもいませんでした。やっぱり凄かったんですねMJ。

今年もAir Jordans の２３作目記念のモデルのリリースで 大騒ぎになりましたね。そして色々な Jordan 関連の商品を見てきましたが、Hypebeastでこれを見た時にはWOW!と思いました。

上の黒いのJordan Brand のカバンは AJ VI、AJ VII、AJ XII、AJ XIII、AJ XVIIなどのハイライトがぎっしりと集約されていて、バッグのベースがソール部分そのままというJordanマニアにはたまらないデザインになってますね。

以前はDiTullo 氏によるものでAJ IIIをフィーチャーしたこちらなどもありましたが、

カバンにしてまでもJordanを身に付けたいのでしょう。。素晴らしいです。

個人的にはMJよりPippenの方が好きだったな。陰の権力者的な雰囲気がして。。

昔履いていた Air Pippen が家で眠っているので、今度また履いてみようと思います。

Each shirt features a coded version of a book title on the front. On the back, the original signature of the author. Can you figure out which titles these are for?
必読ブックシリーズ。このシリーズは僕が高校時代に学校で読んだ本に捧げたくて作りました。当時は嫌いだったけど、今になってどれほどいい本だか気づきました。各Ｔシャツには本の題名がコード化されています。後ろには著者のオリジナルサイン。どの本のタイトルか分かりますか？

And then a modern day play on the same concept. Great rhymes in hip-hop are as rare as great books in history. Try to guess who said this joint.
そして、同じコンセプトの近代版です。ヒップホップのいいリリックは歴史に残るいい本と同じくらいレアな物です。これを言った人が分かるかな。
