We had to do one repping our base — NYC. Knickerbocker Orange and Blue combo.

And with a nod to our design roots, we did a “CMYK color separation” version.
そして、僕達のデザインのルーツに感謝して、「CMYKカラーセパレーション」バージョンを作りました。

3SIXTEEN@ANNEX.

One of Reed Space’s native son brands is 3Sixteen. I am always feelin’ their progression and style. And from Nov 13-23, we open our Annex outpost to these guys to do what they want. It’s actually something I always envisioned for Reed Annex…To allow different brands, corporations and entities to have their swing at a storefront retail space. You can read about it directly from the 3Sixteen boys.
Reed Spaceで長年取り扱っているブランド3Sixteen。彼らの進歩とスタイルはいつも好きです。そして、11月13日から23日まで、僕たちのAnnexを彼らが好きなように使えるよう開放しました。Reed Annexはこのような使い方を思い描いていました。。。色々なブランド、企業、団体へ路面の小売スペースを活用するチャンスを与えることを。ここで3Sixteenのボーズがこのことについて書いています。

食欲 vs. 芸術 … 秋といえば？

炊きたての新米を食べることにこの上ない幸せを感じている毎日ですが、この季節は炭水化物系全般が旬なので食べ過ぎには注意しないとです。
そんな時期は摂取したカロリーを消費するために、たくさん仕事してたくさん遊びましょう！

ということで、まずは先日お邪魔してきたカメラ展をご紹介。
つい最近も Staple Colorsplash Chakras でお世話になった Lomography Gallery Shop にて「Diana World Tour Tokyo」のオープニングパーティーがありました。
Dianaとは、1960-70年代に生産されたレトロカメラのことで、当時からコレクションされてきた現物がただ今世界をツアーしているのです。 店内は Diana Blue と言われる空色に近いきれいな青がアクセントになり、メインの壁には歴代のDianaのコレクションがアクリルケースに飾られ、さらにいたるところに現代の写真家による作品も展示されてました。Dianaにちなんだ写真コンテストや、塗り絵コンテストなども開催され、上位３位までには豪華Dianaカメラ（復刻版）関連賞品が贈られていました。羨ましいぃ〜〜。

Lomography のレトロカメラを愛する精神とそれを復刻して現代のカルチャーに繋ぐ実行力に脱帽です。

Dianaとトイカメラの可能性にすっかり魅了されてしまった後は渋谷へ移動。。

目的は隔月にShibuya PLUG で行われる Not Null Not Full というイベント。今回はレギュラーDJsに加えNovolさんのライブペイントもあるとのことで結構楽しみにしてたんです。

ということで、次に紹介するのは Novol さんの作品。

到着した時にはもう顔のベースができてました。。観ているとどんどん作品の表情が変わって行くので、Novolさんの筆さばきには感動します。

DJ陣も毎回違う演出でいい音を提供してくれます。
小さな場所なので音で気持よくなった皆のお酒もすすみ、みんなで絡み合います。
ここではみんなが友達です。

そんな中でこんな大きな絵を描くなんて楽しそうですね〜〜。

Isaac Hayes の “Black Moses” Novolさんバージョン。
この大人な力強さが好きです。

これだけNovolさんの作品を紹介してますが、今回のイベントの主役は DJ SHINYAさん。
新しいmix、“DECLARATION” のリリース、おめでとうございます！！私が Staple の代理店をしていると聞いて、わざわざSTPLバッグを見せに来てくれました。大事に使っていただていることがとっても嬉しかったので、その場でパシャリ。

また次回も楽しみにしてます！！

今月はまだまだ行っていないアート鑑賞がたくさんあるので、後日ルポします。

YONEHARA NYC.

One of my favorite photographers, Yonehara Yasumasa is currently having a show in Chelsea, NY. Reed Space hosted his first solo exhibition in NYC and it’s great to see Yone graduate to the Chelsea gallery scene. The show is incredible. You should go check it out and get the book as well.
僕の好きな写真家の一人、米原康正氏は今ニューヨークのチェルシーで個展をやっています。Reed Spaceが彼のニューヨークでのはじめての個展を主催しましたが、今やチェルシーの画廊シーンで展示するまでになって、とても嬉しいです。個展はすばらしいです。見に行って、本も買うべきです。

DOWNSHIFT RECAP.

We finally rounded up all the dope photos taken from the Downshift Session ’08 this past Thursday. If you weren’t able to make it, these flicks “almost” do it justice. We’ve created a photo viewer for you to browse through.

先週の木曜日に行われたDownshift Session ’08の素晴らしい写真が集まったので紹介します。イベントに行かれなかった人は、この写真をみれば「ほとんど」どんな感じだったかが分かります。ここですべての写真が見られます。

Here are some highlights…ハイライトはこちら。。。

Set up is always the ugly part of beautiful events. Nobody realizes the amount of broken back, blood, sweat and tears that goes into putting one of these events on. Here’s a shot about 2 hours before showtime. People running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

セットアップ中の光景は美しいイベントには欠かせない醜いもの。このようなイベントを実現されるにはどれほどの血、汗、涙を流したか誰もわからないと思います。この写真はショータイムの2時間前。みんな慌しく走り回っていました。

We started the evening with a VIP and Press Reception. VIPとプレスレセプションで夜は始まりました。

Which quickly grew….人々はどんどん集まり。。。

DOWNSHIFT SESSION 2008.

After my visit to the Polyphony offices in Tokyo, I was so incredibly inspired by them and their game, Gran Turismo, I felt like we could do something together. It occurred to me that in my immediate world, especially Downtown NYC, automotive design was almost nonexistent. Gaming design was a close second. And of course, we are always highly exposed to fashion design, street art and music. I thought; what would happen if we did an event that merged all of these together? If we organized one night where automotive design, game design, street culture, music and art all come together? To be honest, I’m not sure! But I do know that something positive will surely come out of it.
And with that, I formed the Downshift Session. I hope this becomes an annual event as I think all these cultures have something to contribute to one another.
東京のPolyphony社への訪問後、彼らと彼らのゲーム、グランツーリズモに大変感銘を受けたので、何か一緒にやりたいと感じました。僕の周りの世界、特にダウンタウンニューヨークでは自動車デザインはほぼ存在しないことに気付きました。ゲームデザインはその次に存在が薄い。そして逆にファッションデザインやストリートアートや音楽の露出度は高い。僕は考えました。これらすべてを一つのイベントで集結したらどうなるだろう？一夜に自動車デザイン、ゲームデザイン、ストリートカルチャー、音楽、アートがすべて集まったら？正直、どうなるか分かりません！でも、ポジティブな事が生まれるに違いない。
ということで、僕はDownshift Sessionを作りました。毎年のイベントにして、それぞれのカルチャーが影響し合えればいいと思います。

あの人やっぱり天才！

チキンナゲットがBBQソースを食べているところです。

？！？！？！？！

実はこちらはNYの Greenwich Village にオープンした The Village Pet Store & Charcoal Grill で”飼育”されているペットなんです。 他にもいろんな種のソーセージが水槽で飼われていてそれぞれの生態を観察できたり、きれいにお化粧して鏡の前でうっとりしているウサギさんの姿なども観られます。

この不思議なペットショップのオーナーはあの Banksy なのです。 さすが！！

NYでは初の”本当”の個展らしいのですが、彼が作品にアニマトロニクスを使用したのも初めてだそうです。１０月３１日までオープンしているので、機会があれば是非！！
日本にも来て欲しいですね。。
