さてさて、日ごろからLPHがとてもお世話になっていて、翻訳もさせていただいているCommon Magazineさんが創刊5周年を迎えます！
3.11の震災後、いち早く地元のために立ち上がったCommon Magazineの皆さん。その熱意と直向さには心を打たれます。
そして、そんな節目の5周年を記念してCommon Magazine 初のイベント、Sendai Trip In Tokyoが開催されます！仙台のアーティストを引き連れて、東京を盛り上げてくれます！当日は募金箱なども設置され、集まった義援金は日本赤十字に寄付されます。寄付してくれた人は、多くの支援を呼びかけるためにjeffstapleが考案した赤い#helpjapanのピンバッジがもらえますよ～。アツい夜になるのは間違いないので、当日お会いしましょう！！

【東日本大震災への対応について】
３.１１に発生した東日本大震災。当地、仙台も被災の中心地の一つとなりました。
仙台のアーティストを一同に会す事で、被災地の復興の兆しを示すとともに、
被害が甚大な沿岸部の方々へ微小ながらも力になれればと考え、
本イベントの開催において、以下の内容を企画しています。
【余剰金の寄付】
開催後、運営に関わる必要経費を差し引き、余剰金が発生した場合は、
日本赤十字社を通じて被災地への義援金として寄付させていただきます。
【募金箱の設置】
当日、会場に募金箱を設置し、募金を募ります。
集まった募金は上記と合算し、日本赤十字社を通じて被災地への義援金として寄付させていただきます。

Since the Japan earthquake disaster struck, I’ve been dwelling on ways to most effectively help our friends there. As you all know, lots of people are doing lots of things. But they all felt slightly “off” to me. I saw a tweet that summed it up perfectly: “If you’re going to donate, just donate. Don’t make people retweet, like, buy things, etc. Don’t abuse tragedies for your own personal gain.” Don’t get me wrong, no disrespect, everyone’s assistance helps a lot. But personally, for me, I just didn’t want to make something…to add another “thing” to the world, and then have to sell that “thing” in order to help people. I just want to help. And I want those who help to be able to let other people know how to help.
So still…I thought, something must be done. Especially in our industry. We owe much to Japan—if not everything.
日本が震災にあってから、向こうにいる仲間を一番効果的に手伝う方法を考えていました。知っての通り、色んな人が色んな事をしています。でも、どこか腑に落ちないところがありました。あるtweetがぴったり言ってくれました：「寄付するのなら、寄付をしろ。他の人にretweetさせたり、「いいね」をさせたり、買わせたりしない事。自分の利益の為に悲劇を利用してはいけない。」勘違いしないで欲しい。非難をしているわけでもないし、みんなの支援が助けになる。だけど、個人的には、何か作りたくなかった．．．この世の中にもう一つ「もの」を加えて、その「もの」を売って人を助けたくありませんでした。ただ、助けいだけ。そして、助けられる人は他の人にどの様に助けられるか、教えて欲しかっただけです。でも、何かをやらなければいけない。特に僕たちの業界は日本に恩がたくさんある．．．すべてが日本のおかげといっても過言ではない。

Anyone who donates or supports gets one. It’s not only a badge of support, it’s a rally cry. We are organizing an event in NYC on Saturday 4/16/11 to bring people together; get them to donate directly to Red Cross Japan and then represent with this button. You don’t have to buy a product. There’s no “portion of sales” of anything…We’re just giving those that choose to support a means of telling the world around them to do the same.
寄付した人やサポートした人は誰でももらえます。援助した証だけでなく、呼びかけのバッジでもある。2011年4月16日、ニューヨークでみんなが集まり、日本赤十字に直接寄付して、このパッジを付けてもらうイベントを企画しています。商品を買わなくていい。「収益の何％」とか何もない．．．支援した人たちが周りの人に、同じように手を差し伸べるよう呼びかける方法を示すだけ。

The seventh installment in the “1-2-1 w/jeffstaple” Series is a special one. This 1-2-1 features 5 artists who participated in a group art exhibition and fundraiser for letsredu.com and donorschoose.org. The effort is to raise awareness for America’s failing public school systems.
Each segment, jeffstaple, Founder and Creative Director of Staple Design & Reed Space, talks to someone one-to-one. Direct. Intimate. No BS.
For this segment, Jeff talks to Jose Parla, Scott Campbell, Neck Face, Lucien Marc Smith and Luis Gispert.

Ever since I learned about the reality of our public school system here in America, I’ve been diligently working towards helping to find solutions. In short, the whole thing is an atrocity. Try and get yourself to see “Waiting For Superman“. It’s a documentary made by Davids Guggenheim who did “An Inconvenient Truth” last year. It’s really a wake up for all of us…especially people like me, who was brought and raised in the public school system. If you have kids…or are planning to have kids, you need to watch this film.
Also, I’ve been seriously addicted to DonorsChoose.org. The non-profit site allows you to bypass the corrupt school system and teachers unions and help real teachers in real classrooms teaching real kids. It’s an amazing site and it makes helping so easy.
REDU is the initiative: REthink, REform and REbuild public education. And next week at Reed Space, we are hosting a gathering, art exhibition and fund raiser for all of this titled “REDU HOMEROOM“. Think of it as an art show at Reed Space but all the proceeds from the sales of art, tees, posters and accessories going towards DonorsChoose.org. We all need to just get together and share ideas. I’m happy that I can simply provide a platform.
The artist roster isn’t too shabby either. The show will feature works by Scott Campbell, Jose Parla, Neck Face, Luis Gispert and Lucien Marc-Smith.

アメリカの公立学校制度の現実を知って以来、なんらかの解決策を見つけるためにまじめに模索していました。簡潔に言うと、残虐です。できれば「Waiting for Superman」を見てください。去年「An Inconvenient Truth(不都合な真実）」を監督したDavid Guggenheimのドキュメンタリーです。目の覚めるような映画です．．．得に僕のように、公立学校で育った人にとっては。子供を持っている人や子供を産む予定の人はこの映画を見なくてはいけないと思います。
REDUはイニシアチブを取ります：公立教育を考え直す、改革する、再建する。来週Reed Spaceで「REDU HOMEROOM」という集まり、アート展とファンドレイザーを主催します。Reed Spaceで開催されるアートショーですが、アート作品、Ｔシャツ、ポスターアクセサリーの全ての収益はDonorsChoose.orgに寄付されます。みんな集まって、アイディアを出し合うことが必要です。その場を提供できるだけでも嬉しいです。
参加するアーティストもなかなかですよ。このショーはScott Campbell、Jose Parla、Neck Face、Luis GispertとLucien Marc-Smithの作品が並びます。

本日渋谷の公園通りにグランドオープンした417 by Edifice 渋谷店のレセプションパーティーが昨夜ありましたので、お邪魔してきました。
新宿店に続く2店舗目ということだったのですが、店内は女の子がゆったりショッピングできるレディースの空間とヨーロッパの町並みの様に冒険心をくすぐるメンズの空間に別れていて、それぞれがとても心地よかったです。
女の子が大好きな小物の種類が豊富で隅から隅まで見てしまいました。
店内には大道芸人がバルーン芸をしていたり、
おいしいアイスも417。
QWSTIONの新作も店内の至る所にディスプレイされていました。沢山の方に見て頂けて、嬉しい限りです。
やわらかいコットンのシャツを絵の具のパレットのように色々な色に染めたシリーズも本当に奇麗でした。
