Staple 2008 Fall Preview
Last week, Reed Space hosted a special preview of the Staple Fall/Winter 2008 Collection. This is stuff coming out in September-November 2008, so it’s a very early advance showing of what we have coming out. Hence this event was open to close friends and fam. It was a great success and people seemed to really like the new stuff. It was especially fun for me. Every person I greeted was dope in their own right and it dawned on me at some point in the middle of the night that this was a pretty sick gathering of heads. Thanks to everyone involved that made the night possible. I’m looking forward to doing this again in the future.
先週、Reed SpaceでStaple2008年秋冬コレクションの特別プレビュー会を開きました。これらは2008年9月から11月に出る商品でかなり先立ったプレビューだったので友人や家族のみが招待されました。イベントは大成功でみんな新しい商品をとても気に入ってくれました。僕にとっては特別楽しかったです。挨拶した一人ひとりがそれぞれ魅力のある方ばかりで、途中でこれはかなりすごい集まりだということに気づきました。このイベントを成功に導いてくれた人たちみんなに感謝です。またこのような事をやっていきたいです。

私はシカゴで青春時代を過ごしました。
実はChicago Bears というアメフトチームがあるのですが、その頃はBearsがSuper Bowlを優勝したり、数年後にはBullsが無敵になり、、、
そう、ちょうどChicago Bulls に Michael JordanとScottie Pippen が最強コンビを組んでいた時です。
Championship Games は町中がBulls カラーになってました。
シーズン中、学校では生徒と先生関係無く試合の話で盛り上がり、「今日は誰々がゲームを見にいくらしいよ」、などと会話の中心はいつもBulls でした。校内では日々最低でも３０人はBulls グッズを身につけていた時代です。今考えるととても懐かしいですが、まさか２０年以上経つ今もこんなに大人気になるとは思ってもいませんでした。やっぱり凄かったんですねMJ。
今年もAir Jordans の２３作目記念のモデルのリリースで 大騒ぎになりましたね。そして色々な Jordan 関連の商品を見てきましたが、Hypebeastでこれを見た時にはWOW!と思いました。

上の黒いのJordan Brand のカバンは AJ VI、AJ VII、AJ XII、AJ XIII、AJ XVIIなどのハイライトがぎっしりと集約されていて、バッグのベースがソール部分そのままというJordanマニアにはたまらないデザインになってますね。
以前はDiTullo 氏によるものでAJ IIIをフィーチャーしたこちらなどもありましたが、
カバンにしてまでもJordanを身に付けたいのでしょう。。素晴らしいです。
個人的にはMJよりPippenの方が好きだったな。陰の権力者的な雰囲気がして。。
昔履いていた Air Pippen が家で眠っているので、今度また履いてみようと思います。
赤福
出張に行く楽しみの一つはお土産。
大阪の帰りに寄ってでも買おうと決心したのが赤福。
色々あったのでしばらく赤福は食べられなかったのですが、
三度目の正直ということでやっと帰りのサービスエリアで販売しているところを発見しました。
Welcome back! I missed you!!!!涙の再会、、、まではいかないですが、やっと感はありました。
しかもラスト２個。
やっぱり美味しいです。

Staple Spring 2008 drops in Reed Space this week and soon after, to a local authorized dealer near you. Please check it out. I am really proud of this collection and people who have seen it are psyched on it.

The Great Books Series. I wanted to do a series of shirts dedicated to books I hated reading in high school, but now realize how great these books are. Each shirt features a coded version of a book title on the front. On the back, the original signature of the author. Can you figure out which titles these are for?
必読ブックシリーズ。このシリーズは僕が高校時代に学校で読んだ本に捧げたくて作りました。当時は嫌いだったけど、今になってどれほどいい本だか気づきました。各Ｔシャツには本の題名がコード化されています。後ろには著者のオリジナルサイン。どの本のタイトルか分かりますか？
And then a modern day play on the same concept. Great rhymes in hip-hop are as rare as great books in history. Try to guess who said this joint.

京都 錦天満宮の鳥居
京都の錦天満宮の参道にあるこの鳥居は両側のビルに刺さっているのです。
それぞれのビル内部には鳥居の端が壁から突起しているそうです。
どうやらこの参道に商店を建設する際に鳥居の根本で寸法を図ってしまったため
一番幅のある天辺がこのような事になってしまったのです。
いろんな意味で安定感がありそうですね。
そのすぐ側にあった御漬け物屋さんの店頭はまさにアートです。
