東京はみぞれです。

お久しぶりですみません。。最近は春物の立ち上がりの準備であまり多くは語れなかったのですが、これから新しいシーズンが始まると共に情報もアップできると思います。

なので、今日は映画のお話。

日曜日の２３時〜２４時にほぼ欠かさず観ているのが「松嶋 x 町山　未公開映画を観るTV」on TOKYO MX。タイトルからして魅力を感じてしまう人は多いのではないでしょうか？日本未公開の映画を町山さんが紹介し、オセロの松嶋さんが視聴者の立場としてコメントするというクダリから始まり、本編を上映し、途中で意見や補足などをしながら町山さんが分かりやすいように噛み砕いてくれて、１本の映画を２週に別けて観て行くという番組。

未公開なだけに、問題作や明らかに配給会社が決まらなそうな微妙なトピックを扱っている映画などばかりです。よく番組のスポンサーがつくな〜、と驚いてしまう回もあります。この前の日曜日は “WHY WE LAUGH”という黒人コメディーを歴史的、文化的にアプローチしたドキュメンタリーの前編でした。

Why We Laugh

日本でも大人気のエディー・マーフィーやクリス・ロックなどが現代で活躍できるようになったのも、黒人差別や偏見が普通だった奴隷時代に黒人として初めてテレビに出演したパイオニアがいたからであり、黒人文化を広めるきっかけを作っていった人たちがいたからなのです。

厳しい社会情勢の中、黒人はその辛くて悲しい状況を笑いにしてしまおうとしたのです。黒人コメディアンは黒人同士から同情を得ると共に、自虐的になることで白人へも笑いを提供しながらも少し考えさせられるネタを披露しました。それだけの深い歴史があったということですね。

ちなみに、この前の映画は「DELIVER US FROM EVIL」
サイトの紹介文は：「神父が危険な少児性愛者であると知りながら、彼をかばい続けた教会。その後30年間にわたって、神父は子供たちを虐待していく…。本人、被害者たちのインタビューも収録した、衝撃的なドキュメンタリー。」

本当に気分が悪くなるほど強烈でした。

ALL GONE RECAP!

We just wrapped up an amazing event at Reed Space last night. It felt like an old school NYC house party. Old friends, new friends, reunions, catch-ups and a sick soundtrack provided by DJ Soul made it a night to remember. So many heads and beautiful people were in the spot I can’t even begin to list. HAITI.

Many clothing and footwear industry related people read my blog. You guys should hit up Fashion Delivers. They make sure delivery of your garments make it directly into the needy people of Haiti. I know a lot of people that want to help, but don’t know exactly how.
FASHION DELIVERS is coordinating efforts to send new products to our neighbors in Haiti who have been devastated by what very well may be the worst natural disaster to have ever hit the western hemisphere. It has been reported that hundreds of thousands of people may have lost their lives and hundreds of thousands more have been left homeless and without life’s most basic necessities.
Fashion Delivers is mobilizing to provide immediate assistance! They need a broad assortment (in all sizes) of lightweight apparel for men and women, such as t-shirts, tops, shirts, jeans, shorts, slacks, sportswear, active wear, etc. Basic items such as underwear, socks, sheets and throws or lightweight blankets as well as baseball caps, sneakers, sandals and sleepwear are also needed.
Rest assured, your product donations of these essentials WILL reach the victims for which they are intended and will help them cope with this tragedy. This is a massive humanitarian crisis. Your donation of product will make the difference in so many people’s lives who have lost everything.

TIMEOUT STYLE.

I got a call recently and was invited to be part of a Time Out New York Magazine shoot for one of NY’s Most Stylish People. I was like, “Did you get the right number?” Seriously I don’t consider myself “stylish” at all. I have a good eye, but I keep it dead simple in my everyday dress. Needless to say, I have amassed some nice pieces in the closet over the years. And while I rarely wear them, I keep them around more for design inspiration than anything. But it was fun to play dress-up and put these looks together. STPL “BOX” BE@RBRICK

Boys never stop playing with toys. And we love working with our friends over at Medicom in Japan. Our newest collaboration has just dropped. The “Box” Be@rbrick! We do a ton of packing and shipping at Staple each day, so we drew inspiration this time from the warehouse team.
The “Box” Be@rbrick comes in two sizes, a 400% and a 100%. Each one comes in its own specially designed box with its very own mini Staple packing tape. The box itself is a collectors item as it’s rare for a Be@rbrick to get a special box of its own.
The figure itself is done in kraft “cardboard” brown with safety stickers all over it. Staple packing tape is masked up over the eyes and you can peep the cardboard details on the side and back.
It’s available at REED SPACE right now and other select Medicom accounts. Ship it!
